About Len Valley Preservation & Angling Society

Mallards Way recreational area and lake were developed by Wimpy Homes during the construction of the Downswood community and later signed over to Maidstone Borough Council.

A lease to control the fishing rights for Mallards Way lake was negotiated between MBC and LVPAS in 1990. The Society was formed by residents of the Downswood Community to hold this lease and undertake the management of the area.

The main objectives of the society are:

  • The maintenance and enhancement of the area.
  • The protection of wildlife and its habitat.
  • The promotion of wildlife.
  • The promotion and control of angling in a manner sympathetic to the environment.
